Replacing the floorpans

Passenger side pan cut out for replacement
Trial fitting of the ½ pan.  Obviously I had more damage than just a ½ pan could cover.
The worst spot.  This will all have to be fabricated and joined then reinforced when we flip the pan over.
New pans all welded in from the topside, flipped over for finish welding, cleaning, POR 15

Before and after, removing undercoating and cleaning.

It is often asked what is the best way to remove the undercoating.  Well my best method so far

has been to heat it with a propane torch and scrape the heated material off.  Comes off

pretty quick.  Then wire brush on a grinder to get in the crevices and clean it up.   This still left

A lot of residue and I was very concerned as the POR 15 really needs a nice clean surface before painting.

And for everyone (like me) who wants to know if there isnt an easier way, I should say Im one of the

laziest people I know.  This way really is quicker than it seems, it only took about 2-3 hours to get the

whole pan finished.

I happened to have a can of this stuff around so I gave it a shot.  WOW!  Cuts right through the

Undercoating residue and leaves a nice clean surface.  This stuff will actually cut through the undercoating

Withouth the heating and scraping but it would take a few applications and it leaves the removed

Coating mushy.  By heating and scraping everything rehardens for easy disposal.
